Since April last year, Stener Kvinnsland has led the work of investigating what happened when the corona shut down Norway.

On Wednesday, the verdict comes in a 450-page report.

He will not say anything about the details of the conclusion, but believes it was right to look at the authorities’ handling before the pandemic is over.

– I think it was well justified to go through it, to put it that way, Kvinnsland says to VG.

– Do you think anyone is nervous before the verdict comes?

– I hope not, but I do not know. The task is to look at the authorities’ handling. They are of course excited about whether we think it is good or less good.

The Commission has reviewed 23,000 documents. Each of these can be on many pages. In addition, they have had input meetings with organizations and interviews with 34 key people.

Kvinnsland says that they have responded to everything they became asked for (see fact box), but in different ways.

He says that they have, among other things, investigated the following topics:

  • The supply of infection control equipment
  • Shutdown of schools
  • FHI and the Norwegian Directorate of Health’s collaboration
  • Reopening of borders

One of the commission’s tasks is to propose measures to improve preparedness and compare Norway with other countries.

– We have made recommendations and they are concrete enough, says Kvinnsland.
