About fifteen infected people were discovered following preventive screening at the CHSLD Saint-Antoine, where the first COVID-19 vaccination operation in Quebec is due to take place very soon.

After discovering two first cases on Friday during a first screening the day before, a second was carried out at 4e floor of the establishment. The results of the latter led to the discovery of 13 new cases, including 9 among the staff.
“This is an outbreak limited to only one floor of the CHSLD. This in no way compromises the vaccination operations which will begin at the start of the week, ”however reassured the spokesperson for the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale, Mélanie Otis.
According to Mme Otis, a few tests are still awaiting results, but there are no signs yet that the outbreak will be much larger.
All cases declared positive were transferred to the Grande-Allée convalescence center or to that of Saint-Augustin. Of the 627 residents and employees, 101 were tested.
