Nothing for the Spartans. In Mladá Boleslav, he is building the modern Škoda Slavia

This year, Škoda commemorates 125 years since the company was founded. In 1895, Václavov Laurin and Klement started producing bicycles, which from 1896 bore the name Slavia. And this is the name given to the latest car built under the direction of pupils from the Škoda Auto Secondary Vocational School of Engineering in Mladá Boleslav. They name it Škoda Slavia.

The novelty does not arise with regard to series production, but it is also a Scala model in the open body variant of the spider. However, the student car is supposed to be an example of the ability of the Mladá Boleslav youth, which, on the other hand, will try out what it is like to design and build their own car.

The importance of the car is also confirmed by the memories of one of the project participants from previous years. “The whole project was a lot of fun, when in addition to the usual sitting in the bench, we also created something meaningful. Discussions and arguing over the final decision in individual aspects during the entire construction of the car were challenging, whether it was the color, modifications of the car or even the name. , who worked on the Škoda Citijet convertible project in 2014, an open version of the Citigo model. Since then, six other similarly original models have been created, the Slavia will be the seventh.

“Its historical name goes well with the idea of students taking a journey into the past with the modern Scala model, to a time when cars had an open body,” says Škoda spokesman Martin Preusker.

But the scala without a roof, ie Slavia, is also supposed to symbolize the free thinking and nonchalant carefree of young people. Other modifications to the original Scala body are also supposed to create a more emotional impression of the car. The official presentation of the car is to take place in three weeks.

Enthusiastic Slavists on the new unique Škoda will also be pleased by the fact that the current captain of the Prague Slavia, Jan Bořil, also graduated from the Škoda Secondary Vocational School.
