This action must be very careful, because giving paracetamol before the child has a fever due to vaccination will only inhibit the process of forming antibodies.

As a result, the immune system obtained from antibodies tends to be low and not optimal.

This rule does not only apply to the Covid-19 vaccination, but applies to all other types of immunization for children.

“For Covid-19 patients, it has not actually been studied, but to be safe, do not give fever-reducing drugs before a fever occurs. If a fever occurs, please, please give it,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Prof. Hartono also explained that, like all immunizations in general, Covid-19 vaccination in children can cause Post-Immunization Adverse Events (AEFI).

However, the AEFIs that occur tend to be mild, there are local AEFIs in the form of pain at the injection site, redness, and aches. There is also a systemic AEFI, which interferes with the body’s metabolism.

“The term is a bit scary, systemic, even though what is meant is weak, sleepy, then warm or feverish,” concluded Prof. Hartono.
