Not Russia, but China is behind the hacking attack on the US, President Trump suggests

Trump does not provide any evidence for China’s involvement and his tweet is diametrically opposed to statements by his Foreign Minister Pompeo. He also said that the hack is presented in the “Fake News Media” much larger than it actually is.

“It’s pretty clear that the Russians are behind it,” he said minister Pompeo yesterday evening. He called the hack “a huge operation”.

In addition to Pompeo, internet security experts and officials said the hack is the work of Russia. They found no indications of involvement of any other country, including China. Russia says it has nothing to do with it.

Not enough ICT professionals

The hack is said to have started in March. 18,000 organizations, including two US departments and software giant Microsoft, would are affected.

Specialists say there are not enough trained ICT professionals to identify all organizations that may have been targeted. “To make sure that a network is clean, you have to tear it down to the ground and rebuild it,” an expert told AP news agency.

According to experts, the hackers were looking for nuclear secrets, information about vital infrastructure, design drawings for advanced weapons, information about research into corona vaccines and personal files of high-ranking government and business figures.

The AP writes that the White House would issue a statement tonight designating Russia as the main culprit. But at the last moment the instruction would have come to do nothing for a while.
