Russian hockey superstar Alexander Ovechkin really got it from the fans for his profile photo on the instagram with Vladimir Putin. But he is not the only Russian hockey player who has immortalized himself with probably the most hated man of today and has not yet downloaded a photo from social networks. He is a 24-year-old Minnesota striker Kirill Kaprizov.
Kaprizov took a picture with Putin at the end of February after the Sochi Olympics, when he won a gold medal with the national team. He was then invited by the Russian president to visit him and his teammates to congratulate them on this success, and on that occasion he also took a picture with the Russian representatives.
Kaprizov, then 20, placed a photo with the head of state on an instagram with a caption “With the Commander-in-Chief”, which probably didn’t bother anyone so much at the time. In the context of recent events, when Russia, led by Putin, launched an armed attack on Thursday, during which many innocent civilians have already died and are threatening to use nuclear weapons, the situation has changed dramatically.
Some might argue that, unlike Ovečkin, this is not a profile photo that he doesn’t have that much of his eyes on, and he may have forgotten that he has it on his instagram profile. But several fans noticed this and Kaprizov pointed it out in the comments. “Delete that photo, Kirille,” one of them reacts and the others are added with vomiting smileys. Even after these challenges, when the Russian hockey player must have received a warning, he hinted at his photo from the nets, perhaps indicating that he was not ashamed of Vladimir Putin’s actions to remove the monument from the Internet.
Kaprizov has been playing in the NHL since last season, when he transferred from Russian CSKA Moscow to Minnesota. In his premier year, he played 55 games, in which he scored 51 goals for 27 goals and 24 assists, for which he received the Calder Memorial Trophy for the best rookie of the year. He is doing even better this season, when he is already at 64 points in 50 matches, which earned him an invitation to the All-Star Game. Kaprizov also achieved success on the international scene, where in addition to the aforementioned Olympic gold medal, he hung bronze at his neck at the World Championships for adults and silver and bronze at the World Junior Championships.
Kirill Kaprizov was able to score from behind the gate in a fall!
