Not Fever & Dry Cough, These Are Common Symptoms of Covid Infection

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – So far, many have said that the most common symptom of Corona is a dry cough. But research from the UK’s Office for National Statistics shows something different.

Based on research from this British institution, the common symptom of the corona that is most often reported by positive Covid-19 patients is the loss of a person’s sense of smell or taste.

The research data states that 20% -40% of positive Covid-19 patients aged 35 years and over suffer from loss of their sense of smell or taste. Only 15% -25% of the same age group have fever, and only 13% -18% have cough.

In young people under 35 years, 60% reported loss of taste or smell. Only 15% -25% report fever, with less than 10% indicating cough.

“The general picture of the data collected from August 15 to October 26, the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 with symptoms of loss of smell increased the most across all age groups,” wrote the Office for National Statistics study, as quoted by BGR, Thursday ( 26/11/2020).

For information only, until now the Covid-19 pandemic is still out of control. Reuters reports that the number of positive cases of Covid-19 has reached 60 million. Even the US reports there are 1 million new cases in less than a week.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the signs of those infected with the new corona virus are coughing, shortness of breath, and having difficulty breathing. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death.
