Not all NBA players have a basket in the yard like LeBron James

Milwaukee – Since the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the NBA season, Giannis Antetokounmpo has spent most of his time exercising, caring for his newborn son, and occasionally having fun with video games.

What the reigning Most Valuable Player can’t do is pitch to the basket, as the NBA closed practice centers.

“I don’t have access to a hoop,” The Milwaukee Bucks center was recognized in a conference call on Friday. “A lot of players could have a court at home or something similar, I don’t know, but now I only do my exercises at home, on the bike, treadmill, weights and I stay strong that way.”

The health emergency has forced thousands of athletes, including professionals, to work from home and try to keep fit. The team they have access to also varies between different players.

“It all comes down to what they have and what they can do,” said Atlanta Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce. “We can do a lot of weights, so they stay ready. That’s the most I can offer as a coach to keep you ready. I can’t tell you, can you find access to a gym? That would be bad management on my part ”.

For example, Pierce says that Hawks guard Kevin Huerter has access to a gym in New York and Jeff Teague owns another in Indiana.

Other players face different situations.

“I’ve seen LeBron on Instagram,” Pierce said about Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. “LeBron has a house with a weight room and an outside court. You are in a different reality that gives you more access to a life closer to normal. Cam Reddish lives in an apartment and possibly has two rooms. You cannot go to the weight center because it is public, so you are limited in all aspects. ”

Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said he wants players to focus on staying in shape and acknowledged that the logistics of handling the coronavirus pandemic situation make it difficult for them to do any basketball activity.

The Bucks are looking for ways to stay in shape.

The players said managers made sure they have the equipment they need to exercise. Antetokounmpo commented that the team has a service that brings food to ensure that you are eating healthy. Brook Lopez said he received his training plan through an app.

“They have done a great job of keeping everything under control and sending us personalized trainings for each player regardless of the situation,” Lopez said.

Pierce noted that Huerter recently asked him when players could return to the Hawks’ practice center.

“I said, ‘I’ll tell you when we won’t,'” Pierce said. “We won’t do it in April”.
