Norway already had suspected shooting in mind for possible radicalization | NOW

Emergency services already had their eye on the man suspected of the deadly shooting at a gay club in Oslo because of possible radicalization. The security service of the Norwegian police described the man on Saturday as a radicalized Muslim with mental problems.

The 42-year-old man had been known to the Norwegian security services since 2015. In May this year a conversation was held with the man, but it did not appear that the suspect had any violent intentions.

It turned out that the man had a history of mental problems. It was not disclosed exactly what he was dealing with.

The shooting took place in the night from Friday to Saturday at the London Pub in Oslo. Two people were killed and several others injured. According to the latest police figures, 21 people were injured, ten of whom were seriously injured.

The suspect was arrested immediately after the shooting. He is suspected of murder, attempted murder and terrorist acts. The man would have acted alone.

Threat level increased and pride events cancelled

Norway considers the shooting an act of terrorism and raised its national threat level on Saturday. The security services have decided this because these kinds of terrorist acts can potentially inspire others. The security services emphasize that there are no signs of this yet.

The pride would be held in Oslo this weekend. According to Norwegian media the parade that was to be held on Saturday has been cancelled. Other events have also been canceled on the advice of the police.
