North. Two high school students attacked with knives, two students in police custody

Two students were arrested on Tuesday after attacking two other schoolmates with knives at a high school in Wattrelos (North), slightly injuring them.

According to a source close to the case, the victims were allegedly attacked with a machete.

An investigation was “opened to determine the exact circumstances during which two students were slightly injured at the Emile Zola high school in Wattrelos,” the prosecution said.

“Two suspects aged 17 and 19 have been taken into custody,” he added.

Establishment of a psychological cell

The Departmental Public Security Directorate (DDSP) initially mentioned only one victim with “superficial arm injuries”.

The two attackers were “equipped with a knife” confirmed the rectorate, stressing that “a psychological cell” had been set up in the institute.

“A mobile security team and a deputy director of the departmental services of the North” were on site at the beginning of the afternoon, the rectorate further specified.
