North Korea says it has not registered a single case of the coronavirus

North Korea said no cases of the new coronavirus had been found in the country, the Associated Press reported.

The closed communist country has notified the World Health Organization that it tested nearly 26,000 people last month, including those with symptoms of flu or an acute respiratory infection. However, none of them tested positive for the new coronavirus, BTA reported.

Experts are skeptical of these allegations, given the poor state of North Korea’s health care system and weak border controls with China.

North Korea has described its measures against the spread of the new coronavirus as a “matter of national survival.” It banned tourists, ordered foreign diplomats to leave the country and severely restricted cross-border trafficking in people and goods.
