North Korea declares victory in fight against coronavirus

North Korea has not released the number of confirmed cases of the virus.

The North Korean leader said North Korea’s official death rate of 74 is an “unprecedented miracle” compared to other countries.

These figures hardly reflect the real picture, experts say. No known vaccination program has been launched in the DPRK. Instead, Pyongyang says it has relied on restrictions, homemade medicines, and a “beneficial Korean-style socialist system.”

Only official data is known that since the end of April, 4.77 million people have recovered, and 74 have died. Thus, the mortality rate is 0.002%, which is the lowest in the world.

Recall North Korea reports first case of coronavirus in the beginning of May. The patient was found to have Omicron.

Kim Jong Un said that North Korea faced the biggest shock since independence.
