Norris Eyes Brazilian Sprint Victory, Championship Extension
São Paulo, Brazil – Lando Norris will start from pole position in Saturday’s Formula 1 sprint race at Interlagos, aiming to build on recent strong form and extend his lead in the championship standings. The McLaren driver dominated sprint qualifying and Friday’s practice session, signaling a potential breakthrough performance at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
This year’s F1 season, which began on March 16 with the Australian Grand Prix and concludes December 7 in abu Dhabi, has seen a remarkable streak of different pole-sitters in each of the five sprint races held thus far. Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari, China), Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes, Miami), Oscar Piastri (Belgium), and Max Verstappen (Austin) each secured top qualifying positions before Norris’s triumph. While Hamilton and Verstappen have been the only drivers to convert sprint pole into a win, Norris’s recent success – including a dominant victory in Mexico with a lead exceeding half a minute – positions him as a strong contender.
The driver’s title is currently defended by Max Verstappen of red Bull, while mclaren holds the constructor’s championship. This weekend presents a crucial possibility for Norris to solidify his position as the season progresses.
