Exactly one week has passed since the consecration of Serbian Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open (the first Grand Slam of the season and the 22nd of his career). Whoever regained first place in the world ranking of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP) will need to win the other three major tournaments of the year in the quest to continue making history.
In case of shouting champion at Roland Garrós, Wimbledon and the United States Open, Nole will reach 25 major titles in his career, which will make him the male athlete with the most laurels of this type.
Margaret Court (24) and Serena Williams (23) lead the overall and ladies’ statistics. After his recent consecration, Djokovic has been tied with the Spanish Rafael Nadal and the German Steffi Graff: all three with 22 “big” trophies.
In the third box for men, is the Swiss Roger Federer, who won 20 major titles in his career, which he ended in September last year, due to having had to deal with various injuries in recent times.
The Serbian showed his strength and made his hierarchy weigh in Australia, where the Bolivian Hugo Dellien fell in the first round, as did Nadal, who faced his commitment despite severe physical discomfort, which influenced his defeat and premature elimination.
THE FIRST
Right in Australia, Djokovic enjoyed the taste of victory in a big tournament for the first time. It happened in 2008. There he began this path, which has him expecting to reach and establish new milestones in tennis, 15 years later.
The contest that takes place every year on oceanic lands is where Djokovic achieved the most major titles in his career.
