The weekly report of Public Health France published Friday evening a few hours after the point of the Prefect, the ARS and the Rectorate provided details on the situation in Reunion.
The national monitoring body for the Coronavirus epidemic announced that Reunion had exceeded the alert threshold on the indicator of the incidence rate of the disease. But Santé Publique France also expresses doubts about the number of clusters identified on our island.

Covid incidence rate: Alert threshold exceeded
“We must be even more vigilant. We had taken measures with the Prefect to limit the viral circulation. We are on the alert threshold. We knew we were already at the limit. The measures put in place to protect ourselves, go to consult, limit family reunification, must be taken on in a major way by each of us. These measures must be applied.”
“We see in 4/5 of the clusters that they are family reunions without protection. If we do not respect barrier gestures, we will see an increase in this number of new cases. This rate must be limited by the implementation of barrier gestures.”

“Clusters undoubtedly underestimated”, according to Public Health France
“Analyzing a cluster takes time. When declaring a cluster, there may be others being analyzed. There may be a lag of one or more days, but there is no underestimation of the clusters. The cluster is only the witness of the viral circulation. If we do not take the measures, we will have a larger number of new cases.”
No saturation of test capacities
“We have an extremely high test rate. It is higher than the average in metropolitan France. We have the capabilities. ”
“When we use the tests, it is to analyze the clusters, the new cases, to do the tests on D + 7. The laboratories need the capacity, it is not necessary for everyone to be screened without having first seen a practitioner. The capacities are not saturated.”
