No one was hit harder when the virus hit. Now the “city of sin” is ready for the rise of the times.

LAS VEGAS (Aftenposten): Europe’s economic efforts against the corona crisis are fading against those of the United States. Now the Americans are returning to Las Vegas – with the account full of money.

For some it has been a nightmare. More than 560,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus. Nearly 10 million are still without a job.

For others, the pandemic year has gone far better than feared.

Many have worked full time from home. At the same time, they have received large checks from the state. For a normal family of four, the payments have amounted to as much as 100,000 kroner.

It is this money that Las Vegas would like to have clawed at.

The city, which lives by gambling, conferences, hotels and shows, was placed in an artificial coma when the virus came. But now the crowds are back on the Las Vegas strip. There are queues outside the good restaurants. The casinos are reporting increased demand.

– Large sums have been distributed. I know of families who wade in money, says David Noll (51).
