Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Two large craters on the Moon were discovered after being hit by a rocket in March. Its location is on the dark side of the Moon with a diameter of 18 meters and 16 meters, respectively.
The existence of the double crater is called NASA because the rocket body has a large mass at each end. So far, according to reports, there have been no collisions capable of producing a double crater.

A rocket hit the Moon on March 4, 2022, creating two craters on the Moon’s surface.
Even so, both NASA and other astronomers have not been able to confirm that the rocket that hit the Moon came from another country or company.
“Typically spent rockets have mass concentrated at the motor tip: the rest of the rocket stage in particular consists of empty fuel tanks,” said Mark Robinson, associate professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at NASA’s Arizona State University. New York Times reported speculation as to which rocket hit the Moon. According to estimates is the second stage of the SpaceX Falcon 9.
The rocket was launched in 2015 on behalf of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for the DSCOVR Deep Space Climate Observatory project.
Project Pluto astronomy software developer Bill Gray discovered the first rocket in January. Based on the results of his tracking as it approached the Moon, he said it was part of the Falcon 9.
But NASA engineers said the launch trajectory did not match the rocket’s orbit.
