No More Skeeters: Houston Astros Will Rename Their Triple-A Sugar Land Team


The Sugar Land Skeeters will receive a new name and a new look before the 2022 season begins. Houston Astros will host a big party at the end of this month to reveal the new name (Space Cowboys), logo, mascot and uniforms of his Triple A team. The launch party is scheduled for January 29 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Constellation Field in Sugar Land.

The Triple-A Sugar Land franchise is scheduled to start its season on April 5 on the road against the Sacramento River Cats and will host its home opener on April 12 against the Round Rock Express:

The Astros purchased the Sugar Land Skeeters prior to the 2021 season and named them their Triple-A franchise.

Re-branded team merchandise will be for sale in the Constellation Field Team Store throughout the event or online. Kickoff party tickets will be $1 with proceeds benefiting the Astros Foundation.

An announcement about a preseason exhibition at Constellation Field will also be made during the launch party. Partial season ticket plans will be announced and will also go on sale. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.
