The Union players have no training on Monday and Tuesday. And that is very well deserved after the 1-0 win against Freiburg. For attackers Taiwo Awoniyi who is loud Kicker has sustained a muscle injury in the thigh, but it shouldn’t be time to put your feet up. Because the diagnosis is still pending. A prolonged failure is feared. That would actually be a shame because a striker would then be out again.
But at least the attackers take turns at Union when it comes to their injuries. As soon as Joel Pohjanpalo is back, Awoniyi goes out. I find two things interesting about the game in Freiburg. On the one hand, Max Kruse was not brought on, which was not necessary given the mastery of the game (Courier).
On the other hand, the situation of goalkeeper Loris Karius is really strange. Because he has not conceded a goal again. But also not really got anything on his box. Nevertheless, he will probably have to make way for Andreas Luthe again if he is fully back in training. On the surface, that sounds pretty paradoxical.
But of course that is an approach from Karius’ point of view. Conversely, from Luthe’s point of view, one would certainly not want to be absent for personal reasons and thereby lose one’s regular place. From a coach’s point of view, this may send the wrong signal to the team.
I can only speak for myself: I have an absolutely good feeling with Loris Karius in goal. But of course that is not an argument against Andreas Luthe. We are just very lucky to have two such good goalkeepers in our squad.
