No Frisian national anthem at Heerenveen-Vitesse exhibition game due to corona protocol NOW

At the exhibition match between sc Heerenveen and Vitesse, the Frisian national anthem will not be heard on Friday. Due to the corona virus, singing is not allowed in the Dutch stadiums.

The protocol of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) states, among other things, that singing and cheering is prohibited to prevent the spread of the virus.

Singing the Frisian national anthem prior to home games has been a tradition at Heerenveen for decades. So long as the corona protocol applies, that tradition should be put aside.

Most Dutch stadiums are currently experimenting with admitting the public in accordance with the measures. Not everything went well, because supporters sang at the first training session of Feyenoord.

In the run-up to the start of the season, Heerenveen does not only practice at home against Vitesse; PEC Zwolle is also coming to the Abe Lenstra Stadium. On September 12, Willem II, also in Friesland, is the first opponent in the Eredivisie.
