No case of coronavirus has been detected at F1 in Austria

Not a single case of coronavirus infection has yet occurred among drivers and members of Formula 1 stables. The management of the series, which will start the World Cup season with the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, announced today that it has performed more than 4,000 tests among the staff in the last seven days, all with a negative result.

All participants in the Austrian Grand Prix had to undergo tests for coronavirus before arriving at the circuit in Spielberg. At the racetrack, everyone from pilots to journalists now has to undergo checks every five days, and tests are taken care of by private medical teams.

The Formula 1 season was originally scheduled to begin in March in Australia, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, its start was postponed. Seven of the original 22 races were canceled. Only eight European races now appear in the provisional calendar. After Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix, the Styria Grand Prix will take place next week on the Spielberg circuit. After that, the series will move to Hungary, two Grand Prix will be in Silverstone and one each in Spain, Belgium and Italy.
