NLIHC Engages Texas Advocates in Push for Housing Justice
As conference season gains momentum, the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) is actively connecting with advocates nationwide, disseminating the latest housing data and policy updates, and galvanizing support for meaningful change.
Recently, Brooke Schipporeit, Senior Director of NLIHC’s Field Strategy and Innovation team, participated in the texas Homeless Network‘s annual conference in Austin, Texas. Schipporeit led a highly interactive learning lab, “Change Starts Here,” which drew over 50 participants eager to enhance their advocacy skills.
The session provided practical tools for influencing policy, building collective power, and driving systemic change. Attendees delved into the nuances of organizing, advocacy, and lobbying, and critically examined what power-building means within their individual communities. A hands-on strategy activity allowed participants to refine their advocacy approaches and apply key learnings.
NLIHC expressed gratitude for the prospect to strengthen relationships with Texas-based advocates and collaborate with partners like the Texas Homeless Network in the pursuit of equitable housing solutions.
