Collapse this morning in Barcelona after a mobilization of nissan workers against the closure of its plant in Free Zone. It has been a slow march of hundreds of vehicles, which have left the three production centers and have headed towards Diagonal Avenue, collapsing traffic in that part of the city.
Around 10:30 in the morning they left the factories of Free Zone, Montcada i Reixac and Sant Andreu de la Barca protesting a closure that endangers 25,000 direct and indirect jobs in Barcelona. They have been supported by other groups such as the Elite Taxi Barcelona association.
The most important concentration of vehicles has been in the Zona Franca, the largest plant of the three, where hundreds of workers gathered in the early morning to prepare for the protest.
Signs with slogans such as “25,000 families. Nissan does not close »and images of the« Daruma », the traditional Japanese figure that was present at all the ceremonies for the presentation of new models at the Zona Franca factory.
The march, which has already reached the Ronda Litoral, is scheduled to end in front of the Japanese consulate in Barcelona, located on Avenida Diagonal.
Nissan workers in Barcelona have announced mobilizations of different kinds to try to pressure the multinational to renounce its intention to close its plants in Catalonia in December this year.
