Nintendo Direct: the end of the wait next Friday? [MAJ]

Update – Jeff Grubb calls for calm

With the boom that has set off on the internet since these rumors started to spread, Jeff Grubb wanted to speak again about this Nintendo Direct presumed. Without going back on his remarks, the journalist wishes to qualify his remarks and in particular to express his doubts about the nature of the event which would be held next Friday:

It’s still strange that August 28 falls on a Friday. So, I’m not sure it could be a General Direct. It could be many other things. However, you can expect a Direct by mid-September.

If I had to bet I would say it probably won’t be a Direct General next week. So please refrain from your expectations. And if in the end it is a General Direct, we will be pleasantly surprised. But, at the risk of repeating myself, I expect something like that a little later.

In short, Jeff Grubb seems rather to think that the General Direct will be held after August 28, and certainly before September 16, date of the meeting of investors organized by Nintendo (see below in the original article). Other journalists maintain for their part that August 28 will be the day of a Direct General, like NateDrake, another insider known for its reliability.

Original article – Nintendo Direct: End of the wait next Friday?

That game fans Nintendo have been on edge lately, it’s no secret. Between the absence of communication from the manufacturer and the vacuum of the current schedule – the portage of Pikmin 3 except – the concern about the catalog of exclusives of the Switch has only grown, especially when we know that the only games announced will not be there for several months, if not several years. Also, it is not surprising to see the players clamoring for a real Nintendo Direct, the only known way to finally receive official information about future releases, whether information about games already announced or new announcements.

That said, it could be that the wait touches – finally – at its end. Jeff Grubb, the now well-known insider of player services and editor for the site Venturebeat, indicated that there was “a high probabilitythat a Nintendo Direct will be held next week, specifically Friday, August 28. However, the man calls for caution, not ruling out the possibility that this content is new Partner Showcase, a program therefore exclusively devoted to games developed by third-party publishers, like what was broadcast last July. Note that a message indicating that other similar videos would be released later was also released at the very end.

More Jeff Grubb expresses confidence in the possibility of a program dedicated to games first-party, therefore to the exclusives Nintendo. According to him, “plenty of evidence points to a general Nintendo Direct being held next week“. To argue his point, the reporter mentioned a certain meeting planned by Nintendo for September 16 in Tokyo: the Japanese firm had indeed announced that a meeting for their investors would be organized on this date, without specifying the purpose. Grubb reports that he had already heard of rumors of a Nintendo Direct general even before this announcement was made. According to him, the probability that these hallway noises were proven was all the higher, insofar as it would be likely that Nintendo had made several strong announcements in terms of games before this famous meeting was held.

All of these statements were made in connection with the show GamesBeat Decides, a podcast created by Venturebeat, whose number 160 was precisely devoted to the thorny question of the next Nintendo Direct. You can find the video just here.

In summary, it looks like we have a good chance of finding a Nintendo Direct next week. The sources are multiple, reliable and the context favorable. On the other hand, one cannot be sure of anything in the absence of an official announcement, especially on the nature of this Direct. Anyway, if something has to happen next Friday, we will no doubt know a few days in advance: a little more patience before we have the end of this story.
