Nine young students recognized for remarkable achievements in competitions and Olympiads

The young people and their companions were welcomed by government councilor Stefan Kölliker, head of the education department, and Tina Cassidy, head of the office for secondary schools. The nine students did an extraordinary job.

They had prepared themselves intensively for their competitions and competitions and achieved more than the actual target. The awards, prizes and medals testify to the young people’s willingness to perform. That deserves great praise.

The following young people were recognized for their achievements:

Kantonsschule Wil

  • Louis Hirst received first prize at the Entrada of the Swiss youth music competition in Steinhausen with the Trio Dumici.

Kantonsschule am Burggraben St.Gallen

  • Lars Etter received the silver medal at the Swiss Geography Olympiad.
  • Cohen Herzig received the silver medal at the Swiss Linguistics Olympiad.
  • Philip Kündig received the DesignOvation Award at the Swiss final of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) and, together with Damian Hardegger (electrician, 3rd year of apprenticeship), achieved 4th place at the World Final of the WRO in Dortmund.
  • Linus Lüchinger received the bronze medal at the Central European Informatics Olympiad.
  • Sofia Lundgren received the silver medal at the Swiss Linguistics Olympiad.
  • Hannah Us received the bronze medal at the Europeans Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics.
  • Anna Saxon received the silver medal at the Swiss Geography Olympiad.

Kantonsschule Wattwil

  • Lamia Hammam took part in the “Swiss Youth Research” competition with her Matura thesis and received the “outstanding” award and the special prize. This entitles them to participate in the international competition “Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair” in Los Angeles 2024.
