The region is still experiencing a period of drought. This Saturday, the Var prefecture announced that nine forests in the department are at “severe” or “moderate” forest fire risk.
Every summer, vigilance is required in the region. Due to the high heat and drought, fires can break out at any time. This Saturday, the authorities decided to place several forests in the Var at fire risk “strict” or “moderate”.
This Saturday, are placed in fire risk “severe” the massifs of Haut Varfrom Center-Var, Esterel, Sainte Baume et Moors. The Var prefecture has placed at risk “moderate” of fire the Canjuers plateaule Mount Toulon and the Cornice of the Moors.
“Like every summer, the Var prefecture regulates entry, traffic and parking on certain roads serving the 9 Var forests.”, said the authorities on their website. “The card is published every day, before 7 p.m., for the next day”, specifies the prefecture of Var.
A few days after the fire which broke out at the Canjuers military camp in parallel with training, the Var prefecture is calling for vigilance.
Citizens are therefore invited to compose the 18 or 112 to signal a fire outbreak. Before going to a Var massif, it is also recommended to consult the maps of the prefecture and to follow the recommendations.
