Nine kilometers of traffic jam in front of the Gotthard south portal

In the afternoon, this temporarily reached a length of around nine kilometers, as the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) announced.

According to the traffic service, drivers on their way north needed an hour and thirty minutes of patience to get through. The traffic backed up from the tunnel portal back to Biasca in several sections.

There were also obstructions on the San Bernardino route via the A13. There, the time lost in the afternoon due to traffic congestion was around thirty minutes.

The waiting time on the way south was shorter. The vehicles jammed for around three kilometers in front of the north portal. The TCS also expected traffic jams on the Gotthard over the coming weekends due to the tourist traffic. School lessons will start again next Monday in just under a dozen cantons.
