Nîmes: mixed first impressions of the film “Asterix and Obelix: the middle empire”

Wednesday, February 1, the long-awaited film “Asterix and Obelix: the middle empire” is screened seven times at the CGR in Nîmes. The impressions are shared between the first spectators, who come by the dozens to each screening.

From 29 to 50 tickets sold at each screening of “Asterix and Obelix: the middle empire” at the CGR in Nîmes. The film released this Wednesday February 1 is not a full house (the maximum capacities of the rooms used being between 200 and 300 seats), unlike the preview on Sunday January 29. However, reception agents are rather optimistic: “50, mid-week is pretty decent.” smiles Charlotte Provost. His colleague Hugo Schneider adds: “It’s more on weekends that it fills up.”

A few minutes before the end of the film, Boualem Emtir and Hadri Kenza leave the room: “It’s always the same ending, they sing and they dance.” But their smiles show that these young Biterrois on vacation had a good time: “It was super funny” admits Boualem, who however regrets a casting “with the same stars every time. It’s a shame they don’t give new actors a chance.”

Olivier Gorriz, from Paris, is satisfied with the casting. Evasively, he drops a “more or less funny” on the movie in general. Similar impressions are expressed by other viewers, with words like “funny” et “very lively” To the mouth.

Spectators unconvinced

Sacha Valeur leaves the room looking a little excited, unlike his child Sébastien, who is busy running down the hall. “It is mainly for him that I came, I did not expect much.” Her 5-year-old child, fond of “old cartoons”, still “got up several times” during the session.

“Actually, it’s not until the end of the movie that it starts to feel good.” reveals Héloïse Mentel, a student at the University of Nîmes. Like her two friends, she is disappointed. The three young girls, however, appreciated the “references” of the characters to the life of the actors interpreting them. But the overall assessment of the three young girls is far from the hoped-for enthusiasm for the most expensive French film of the year.
