The parahôtellerie switzerland continues to attract tourists. Last year, this sector recorded a total of 16.7 million overnight stays, i.e. a slight increase of 0.7% compared with 2018, despite a demand decline for the holiday accommodation.
Representing not less than 68.6% of the demand, the guests from Switzerland have generated 11.4 million overnight stays, representing a growth of 2.4%, indicates Monday, the federal statistical Office (FSO). On the side of foreign customers, the decline amounted to 2.8% to 5.2 million units.
The decline was found to be superior to the average for the travelers coming from Europe, which generated 4.4 million overnight stays, i.e. a decline of 3.8%. They have not accounted for the greatest share of stays foreign.

Foreign demand is mainly coming from Europe (96,6%), with 1.2 million overnight stays, an increase of 3.3%. On average, the length of stay is displayed to 3.2 nights in 2019.
