Nightmare news from Greece for millions of tourists

Greece has extended the rules for entry of foreign citizens until May 31, as the joint interdepartmental decision was published in the official government newspaper, writes “Monitor”.

On May 14, Greece opened its borders to tourists, but not from all countries.

In Greece, there is a temporary ban on the entry of third-country nationals “for reasons of protection of public health from the further spread of the coronavirus COVID-19”.

The ban does not apply to citizens of the Member States of the European Union and the Schengen Agreement, as well as to permanent residents in the 21 countries whose list has been published.

These are Australia, Northern Macedonia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Belarus, Bahrain, New Zealand, South Korea, Qatar, China, Kuwait, Ukraine, Rwanda, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore and Thailand. . Citizens of these countries can enter Greece in any way and by any means of transport.

Travelers, regardless of nationality, must complete the electronic PLF (passenger location form) at https://travel.gov.gr one day before arriving in the country, indicating their contact details in Greece.

The confirmation of filling in the PLF form, which is automatically sent by e-mail to the passenger, is considered a necessary document of the traveler.

To enter the country is considered a valid PLF form with a QR code. The air carrier is obliged to check the form before boarding the aircraft.

Upon arrival, the airline passenger must present the document to the staff of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection and the National Public Health Organization.

The documents can be in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish or Russian, they must be issued by a government agency and in accordance with the relevant legislation, the document says.

This obligation also applies to minors over the age of five.

A random test for COVID-19 can be performed at the airport of arrival. If the traveler is tested at random, he must wait for the results.

In case of a positive test and detection of a coronavirus, the passenger will be quarantined for 14 days, the decree said.

The document notes that in any case, the newcomers must, during their stay in Greece, follow the emergency measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 on an equal footing with everyone else.

Entry into Greece is permitted through international airports, the seaports of Patras, Igoumenitsa and Corfu, the border checkpoints Promahon and Ormeniu, open 24 hours a day, as well as Evzoni and Nymphaea, open from 7 am to 11 pm.
