Nice became a UNESCO World Heritage Site

UNESCO recognized Nice’s unique location and the different influences under which the city was formed.

The French city of Nice was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List on the second attempt. About this on Tuesday, July 27, reported in the municipality of Nice.

The corresponding decision was made at the 44th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which took place on July 27 in China.

“The history of Nice, both rooted and open, Mediterranean and Alpine, European and cosmopolitan, has created a unique architecture and landscape that is a model for many other cities in the world,” Mayor Christian Estrosi welcomed Nice’s inclusion in the heritage list.

“This recognition sanctifies Nice as the archetype of the Riviera’s winter resort with its exceptional location between sea and mountains and the various influences that have shaped its heritage,” French Culture Minister Roseline Bachelo said on Twitter.

It is worth noting that the application for the inclusion of Nice in the list of World Heritage Sites in 2019 was unsuccessful.

The day before it was reported that included in the UNESCO World Heritage List four new objects.

And before that Liverpool removed from UNESCO World Heritage List due to buildings in the historic center.
