The collapse of the United States could lead to a civil war, the beginning of which will be the country’s demographic transition from a predominantly white population to a non-white population in the 2040s. This was announced on Saturday, January 22, by Mark Katz, a columnist for the American newspaper National Interest, in his article.
According to him, the collapse of the United States is possible due to the fact that the country will be in the process of such a demographic transition, after which Americans, especially conservative ones, will not agree to voluntarily cede power to the emerging majority with a different skin color.
Katz added that instead, white US citizens will try to maintain the status quo by force and secure their dominant position in society. At the same time, according to the observer, in the worst case, civil unrest will lead to the collapse of the state.
The journalist assured that such changes will allow other countries to fill in the missing link, which is formed as a result of the fall of the United States.
Earlier, in November 2021, in his article for Bloomberg, columnist Max Hastings said that the immediate collapse of the United States should not be expected, however such a prospect can already be imaginedsomething that could not have been done at the beginning of the millennium. He explained that United States have always been divided according to their political views.
At the same time, according to Hastings’ assumption, the racial problem lies at the heart of the American split. He assured that a certain wave of anger is accumulating in the States.
In December, CIA specialist Barbara Walter announced US approach to civil war. Walter noted that two strong factors of a future war are observed in the country: anocracy – the oppression of democratic institutions and exploitation by authoritarian elites, and the emergence of interests aimed at exploiting internal contradictions that can increase the split in society. So, the generals noticed that the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021 involved “an alarming number of veterans and military personnel.”
