Adelboden – NHL star Roman Josi is taking a stake in AQVA Holding AG together with former professional ice hockey player Mark Streit, national soccer goalkeeper Yann Sommer, Schwinger Christian Stucki and Severin Lüthi, Davis Cup coach and Roger Federer’s longstanding coach. The newly founded company takes over Adelbodner Mineralquellen AG from the former owner Licht- und Wasserwerk in Adelboden with immediate effect.
The sports quintet is completed by experienced business experts. These include Peter Boss, CEO of the V. Fischer Investas Group, Ben Küffer, CEO and founder of the Norquain watch brand, Jürg Burri, CEO and founder of Rüedu AG, and Lionel Hofstetter, marketing expert from the luxury goods industry.
According to the media release, the new owners have joined forces “to work for Switzerland and local water”. Roman Josi is quoted in the media release as saying: “The topic of water is extremely important in sport, that connects us. The canton and the city of Bern are also my home, Adelboden even my home town. It was very important to me to be able to contribute.” According to Blick, investors were also forced to act quickly by an article about the Mühlackern drinking water source in Valais, which attracted the interest of Chinese investors.
