Chicago won against the Edmonton Oilers (4-3), including a brace from Jonathan Toews. Arizona, for its part, beat the Nashville Predators (4-1), thanks in part to Darcy Kuemper, its goaltender, author of 39 saves. These two teams lead two sets to one in their series.

Tampa Bay and Colorado also victorious, in round-robin

Montreal got the better of the Pittsburgh Penguins (4-3), on goals from Shea Weber, Jonathan Drouin, Paul Byron and Jeff Petry. The Penguins led 3-1 after 25 minutes, before collapsing. Finally Florida beat the New York Islanders (3-2). Again, Canadiens and Panthers lead 2-1 in their series.

Two round-robin matches were also played on Wednesday (for teams ranked 1 to 4 in each conference and automatically qualified for the second round of the play-offs). In the East, the Tampa Bay Lightning won against the Boston Bruins (3-2), while in the West, the Colorado Avalanche of Pierre-Édouard Bellemare dominated the Dallas Stars (4-0).
