NFL | State of the forces

The second week of the NFL calendar kicks off Thursday night as the New York Giants, who continue to disappoint, will be in the US capital to face the Washington team. The latter will be deprived of the services of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Here is our first statement of strengths of the season.

– Buccaneers de Tampa Bay (1-0) – The tertiary was already the Bucs’ only potential weakness, and cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting suffered a shoulder injury and will miss at least a month of play. The organization has therefore hired veteran Pierre Desir, who is currently in his training team.

– Chiefs de Kansas City (1-0) – The Chiefs’ priority was to improve their offensive line in the offseason, and the unit played relatively well in its opener, handing two sacks to the Cleveland Browns. According to the Chiefs official website, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif trained with the team last week and could have played, but was left out.

– Seahawks de Seattle (1-0) – When he drafted Rashaad Penny in the first round in 2018, GM John Schneider said he quickly received an offer to trade him to another team, which he turned down. Looking back, the Seahawks surely wouldn’t make the same decision. The running back was injured once again last Sunday, this time to a calf.

– Rams de Los Angeles (1-0) – Excellent introduction from Matthew Stafford, who completed 20 of his 26 passes for 321 yards and 3 touchdowns. For now, third-year Darrell Henderson Jr. is the team’s regular running back. He carried the ball 16 times, while Sony Michel has only done it once.

– San Francisco 49ers (1-0) – As we know, the 49ers’ 2020 season was quickly marred by injuries, and it’s off to a bad start this year: cornerback Jason Verrett (anterior cruciate ligament) will miss the entire season, and running back Raheem Mostert. (knee) will not return to play until the middle of the schedule.

– New Orleans Saints (1-0) – Jameis Winston’s performance on his first start of the season was frankly astonishing. Five touchdown passes without his top receiver, Michael Thomas? We hadn’t seen her coming, that one.

– Steelers de Pittsburgh (1-0) – As is almost always the case, Ben Roethlisberger’s play was significantly better in the second half than it was in the first last Sunday. Overall, his performance was not very reassuring for the Steelers.

– Arizona Cardinals (1-0) – If the Cards are still playing the way they did in Nashville, maybe the four teams in the National West Division will make the playoffs. Kyler Murray looks set to elevate his level of play to that of the Tour’s super-stars.

– Browns de Cleveland (0-1) – As was the case last January, the Browns were unable to finish the job at Arrowhead Stadium. They don’t need much to take down the mighty Kansas City Chiefs.

– Bills de Buffalo (0-1) – The Bills ‘offensive line, yet considered one of the NFL’s good ones, was battered by the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive front on Sunday. She suffered several penalties and allowed three sacks, a total that would have been higher had it not been for Josh Allen’s athleticism.

– Chargers de Los Angeles (1-0) – The Chargers let loose leads on several occasions in 2020, potentially costing them a playoff berth in the end. They did manage to win a tight curtain-raiser in Washington, however, as Justin Herbert threw for 337 yards on good defense.

– Denver Broncos (1-0) – Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is rumored to be interested in buying the Broncos, which have been in the Bowlen family since 1984, and have been in the Bowlen family since 1984. Pat Bowlen died in 2019.

– Las Vegas Raiders (1-0) –If Maxx Crosby is still as good as he was on Monday night, the Raiders’ struggles in squeezing the quarterback could be a thing of the past. The defensive end excelled throughout the game against the Baltimore Ravens. Separately, Crosby has openly said he suffered from alcoholism, but has been sober for a year and a half.

– Ravens de Baltimore (0-1) – Every year, a few teams see their season ruined by injuries. This was the case with the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos in 2020. And the Ravens’ injury list continues to grow, as J. K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Marcus Peters and L. J. Fort all miss the season. The team will also have to do without several other starters in the short term.

– Cowboys de Dallas (0-1) – Doubts about Dak Prescott’s health quickly took the edge, didn’t they? Failing to have been very good against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cowboys defense played much more intensely than it did last season. A step in the right direction.

– Dolphins de Miami (1-0) – Even though it was only the first game of the season, it was a very big win for the Dolphins at Foxboro. Unless the Buffalo Bills have a disappointing season, the New England Dolphins and Patriots will battle for second place and possibly for a playoff spot.

– New England Patriots (0-1) – If Damien Harris hadn’t dropped and lost the ball in the dying minutes of the game against Miami, the Pats most likely would have won. It is very unusual for Bill Belichick’s side to lose a game this way.

– Packers de Green Bay (0-1) – A little low position after only one game, certainly, but the Packers do not deserve better after their poor performance against the Saints of New Orleans. And their first match certainly won’t help keep the controversy away …

– Titans du Tennessee (0-1) – The Titans were also very disappointing in their first game. The offensive line allowed Chandler Jones no less than five sacks, and the “big three” of Derrick Henry, A. J. Brown and Julio Jones totaled just 155 attacking yards.

– Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) – For just a week, Jalen Hurts vindicated the Eagles in his confidence, playing his best game in the NFL: 27 for 35 for 264 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. But remember that it was against the Atlanta Falcons, who have perhaps the worst defense in the league.

– Colts d’Indianapolis (0-1) – Former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz played well, too. In his first game in the Colts uniform, Wentz hit the target 25 times on 38 shots for gains of 251 yards and 2 touchdowns. Note, however, that 12 of his passes were completed with running backs.

– Bengals de Cincinnati (1-0) – The Bengals didn’t do much to improve the line in front of Joe Burrow in the offseason and the quarterback was sacked by five in his first game of the season. In this sense, half Joe Mixon (150 attacking yards against the Minnesota Vikings) will have to calm the ardor of the opposing defenses by experiencing success on the ground.

– Panthers de la Caroline (1-0) – The young Panthers’ defense was dominant with a six-sack harvest, but it was at the expense of rookie quarterback Zach Wilson and one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL, that of the New Jets. York. So let’s wait a bit before we get carried away.

– Vikings du Minnesota (0-1) – Dalvin Cook called himself the best running back in the league not too long ago and he is indeed a very good player. Except that the best running backs do not drop the ball to lose their team in overtime like Cook did in Cincinnati.

– The Washington team (0-1) – A hip injury Ryan Fitzpatrick will miss six to eight weeks of play. It is Taylor Heinicke, who delivered an inspired performance against Tom Brady and the Bucs in the playoffs last winter, who will replace Fitzpatrick.

– Bears de Chicago (0-1) – If their defense does not raise its level of play significantly, it will be a long season for the Bears. When will Justin Fields leave for the first time?

– Texans de Houston (1-0) – While it is true that the Texans want to get six players or draft picks in return for Deshaun Watson, they will have to be patient. No team will agree to pay that price until the quarterback’s personal issues are resolved.

– Giants de New York (0-1) – Playing his first game since his knee injury, Saquon Barkley only gained 26 yards on 10 carries. Giants fans certainly weren’t expecting a home loss by two touchdowns to the Denver Broncos to start the season.

– New York Jets (0-1) – Another team decimated by injuries in this young season. The Jets had previously lost the services of Carl Lawson (Achilles tendon) and Jarrad Davis (ankle), and they will now have to replace their left tackle Mekhi Becton (knee) and veteran defensive back Lamarcus Joyner (triceps).

– Detroit Lions (0-1) – The Lions at least got credit for fighting the 49ers until the end. They lost by four touchdowns (38-10) in the middle of the third quarter, but ultimately lost 41-33. We encourage each other as best we can.

– Falcons d’Atlanta (0-1) – Very little was already expected from the Falcons in 2021, and it could be worse than expected. A 32-6 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles? Phew, it starts badly.

– Jaguars de Jacksonville (0-1) – In his three college seasons, Trevor Lawrence threw four, eight and five interceptions. He pitched three in his first game with the Jaguars. Welcome to the NFL!
