Hot Seat Index: 6 NFL Coaches Facing increasing Pressure
Table of Contents
following the Cleveland Browns’ decision to fire head coach Kevin callahan after a disappointing 3-3 start, attention turns to other NFL coaches potentially on the hot seat. Several factors – poor performance, roster struggles, and ownership expectations – are contributing to rising pressure across the league. HereS a look at six coaches facing scrutiny:
Brian daboll, Giants
The New York Giants are struggling, and the future of head coach Brian Daboll is increasingly uncertain. Currently holding a 2-5 record, the Giants have one of the toughest remaining schedules in the league. The 50-year-old head coach holds a 20-36-1 record during his four-year tenure, including an 11-29 record in his last 40 games.
Daboll’s future with the Giants is tied exclusively to quarterback Daniel Jones. Will ownership trust him to develop the young signal-caller, or decide to let someone else take the reins?

John Harbaugh, Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens’ 3-3 start has raised concerns, especially considering pre-season expectations. If the season ended today, the Ravens would own the third overall pick in April’s draft.
lamar Jackson’s absence for the last two games hasn’t helped, but Baltimore was headed for a 3-2 mark before the two-time MVP got hurt against the Chiefs. This team isn’t doing anything well right now, and that’s mainly on the head coach. In particular, the defense has been a mess, ranking last in EPA/rush heading into Week 7.
The Ravens have dug themselves a big hole, and this season is in danger of being a massive failure. General manager Eric DeCosta deserves some blame for the roster construction, but he’s unlikely to be replaced. If someone has to lose their job over failing to secure a playoff spot, it might very well be Harbaugh. The 63-year-old’s 3-6 playoff record as Jackson became the starting quarterback in 2018 leaves a lot to be desired, and his time in Baltimore might have just run its course.

Aaron Glenn, Jets
After last week’s showing in London, Aaron Glenn is firmly on the hot seat. He made multiple questionable in-game decisions in crucial moments, and his offense was responsible for the NFL’s worst performance of the year by any unit.
Glenn is off to a 0-6 start as head coach, and the Jets are the onyl team in the league without a win.The 53-year-old helped Detroit construct a great defense during his run as Lions coordinator, but New York ranks 28th in EPA/play and points per game allowed. Glenn deserves at least two years to get this organization going in the right direction. However, his tenure through six contests has been disappointing to say the least.
Owner Woody Johnson, known for making unpredictable decisions, coudl pull the plug after one year and pair a potential quarterback drafted in April with a new head coach.

Dennis Allen, Saints
New Orleans’ 4-4 start isn’t disastrous, but it’s far from the playoff contention many expected. The Saints’ offense is struggling mightily, averaging just 17.8 points per game, and Derek Carr’s performance has been underwhelming.
Allen,a defensive-minded coach, hasn’t been able to fix a unit that ranks 25th in the league in yards allowed. While a complete overhaul seems unlikely mid-season, continued struggles could lead to serious questions about Allen’s long-term viability.

Arthur smith, Falcons
Despite a 4-3 record, arthur Smith is facing increasing scrutiny in Atlanta. The Falcons’ success has largely been attributed to their strong running game and a favorable schedule, but questions remain about quarterback Desmond Ridder’s progress and the team’s ability to compete against stronger opponents.
Smith’s conservative play-calling and inability to unlock the full potential of the offense have drawn criticism. A late-season collapse could easily spell the end of his tenure.

Todd Bowles,Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 3-4 and look a long way from contention after Tom Brady’s departure. Baker Mayfield has been inconsistent, and the offense is struggling to find an identity.
Bowles, known for his defensive expertise, hasn’t been able to compensate for the offensive woes. while the Buccaneers aren’t expected to be Super bowl contenders, continued poor performance and a lack of progress could lead to a coaching change.
