Nexos can publish freely without depending on State funding: Eréndira Sandoval

“The editors of Nexus they have been one of the strongest promoters and defenders of the minimal state. Today they can continue to freely publish their ideas without depending on state funding, “the federal official wrote on her Twitter account.

Mexico City, August 21 (However) .- Following the intention of the magazine Nexus to defend themselves against the sanctions imposed by the Ministry of Public Administration (SFP), the holder of the unit, Irma Eréndira Sandoval, affirmed that said medium today has the possibility of publish freely without he state financing.

“The editors of Nexus they have been one of the strongest promoters and defenders of the minimal state. Today they can continue to freely publish their ideas without depending on state funding, “the federal official wrote on her Twitter account.

“They insult us for enforcing the law. The document that Nexos falsified was a receipt from Infonavit to hide its debts in employer contributions. It is not acceptable that by falsifying and defrauding the rights of their workers, they enrich themselves with direct awards, ”he explained in another tweet.

“In just one six-year term (2012-2018) Nexus obtained millionaire contracts by direct award with the entire federal Public Administration for more than 85 million pesos. After so many direct awards it is obvious that they can and should pay the imposed fine, “he added.

For its part, through a statement, the SFP indicated that it is an administrative sanctioning procedure on the direct assignment of a contract to the company for a public health campaign called “Chécate mídete pésate” in 2018, when the Mexican Institute of the Social Security (IMSS) was directed by Tuffic Miguel Ortega, but until now the resolution has been issued.

According to the government agency, Nexus “He provided false information to secure a direct award with a total lack of ethics and legality”, since he provided apocryphal information to obtain a public contract: he presented a document from the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit) to allegedly verify that he was up to date with his employer contributions, that is, he had no debts; However, Infonavit itself confirmed that the information was altered, since it did have them in its official records.

The false document served to finalize the aforementioned contract. The director of Nexos himself has acknowledged in interviews that at that time they had to present the document again because it was considered false, the SFP said.

SFP PROHIBITS FEDERAL DEPENDENCES CONTRACTS WITH NEXOS

Yesterday, the Ministry of Public Function prohibited the dependencies and entities of the Federation, productive state companies and state governments from abstaining for two years to accept proposals or enter into contracts with the company Nexos Sociedad, Ciencia y Literatura, SA de CV that, since 2009, is directed by the journalist and historian Héctor Aguilar Camín, who for years has been one of the main critics of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The magazine reported that it will defend itself because the sanction is disproportionate and shows the “hostility against critical media” exercised by the current government.

“The sanction that Nexus receives now is symptomatic of the atmosphere of hostility against critical media that prevails in the government. It is not an isolated event, it is another sign of official intolerance to criticism, to different thinking, to the diversity of opinions, ultimately, to freedom of expression, ”the media stated in a statement.

The differences between Aguilar Camín and López Obrador are widely known and have been aired not only in the press, but even in the conference that, from Monday to Friday, the President of Mexico offers. There he has argued that the magazine Nexos and its director criticize him because they received “full hands” money and favors from the governments of the neoliberal period.

Just on July 15, López Obrador responded to intellectuals, including Aguilar Camín himself, who a day earlier spoke in favor of building a citizen alliance that, together with the opposition, builds a bloc to ensure that the Chamber of Deputies regain the role of counterweight to the presidential figure.

“Their argument that they seek to build an alliance with a view to the 2021 elections to obtain a majority and ‘ensure that the Chamber of Deputies recovers its role as a constitutional counterweight to the Executive Power is embarrassing to others,'” he said in a letter published in his twitter account.

“What if they have not found out that Emilio Lozoya, former director of Pemex, is about to arrive extradited from Spain, who will apparently present evidence and explain how the ‘counterweight’ that the undersigned is trying to ‘recover’ was achieved?” at that time López Obrador.
