“The complete project from Cajamarca to Calarcá is the crossing of the central mountain range. There are 25 tunnels, 31 viaducts, 3 road interchangers and there is the large La Línea tunnel, which is the longest tunnel on the continent, 8.6 kilometers long, ”said Juan Esteban Gil, director of Invías a Noticias Caracol.

More than 10,000 people worked on the project, which today already has an advance of 85%. The tunnel will save 20 kilometers between Calarcá and Cajamarca.

The delivery will be on two dates according to the director of Invías. “A delivery will be in this quarter before the end of September, where we will put the La Línea tunnel into service and in the first quarter of 2021 we will put the entire dual carriageway system into service.”
