News 24 | NASA commends a Saudi academy that discovered two class zero stars and publishes its scientific research

Jazan University announced the success of Assistant Professor at the College of Science, Wafa Zakry, in uncovering two stars out of 3 of the “zero” category.

The US space agency “NASA” has praised the findings of “Wafaa” in its scientific research related to this topic, noting that this research is an important breakthrough that helps scientists know how stars are formed.

“Wafaa” said that the first explosion of Ma’ani was discovered almost a century ago, and since then it has rarely been observed, and due to the paucity of information on how stars form in the zero-category phase and accumulate their mass, the team decided to conduct a study on this phenomenon to increase the number of observed cases and test the hypothesis.

He added that he conducted this study of 92 zero-category stars in the Orion molecular cloud, known for its abundance of infant stars within it, noting that zero-category stars are newborn stars and are the youngest stars in the phase of training and training until you become a full-fledged star.

He pointed out that he had discovered two stars out of 3 zero-category stars present in Orion’s molecular cloud, the “Orion constellation”, and a possible explosion rate for the youngest stars has been reached about once every 400 years, since every the explosion lasts about 15 years.

He noted that the new research results have shown that gas clouds collapse to form a star, and this is actually the process of creating stars in real time, and therefore the study is a big step forward and helps astronomers to know how stars form and accumulate their mass more clearly, so NASA praised him.
