The game will often be very tight, because it is also a kind of race to fill his zoo.

Indeed, in New York Zoo, the goal will be to first fill the entire brown surface of his land using enclosures and attractions for visitors. The first to succeed wins the game.

Each player will then receive his field board and some animals that he will install in his “dwellings“. These are very important since they will allow to pose animals in” extra “.

The enclosures are then arranged around a track. There are several sizes that must be taken in order from the box where they are located. Finally, a reserve is made with the animals.

At each turn, a player moves an elephant pawn on the track from one to four boxes to choose an enclosure or make an acquisition new animals for his zoo. The choice of enclosures will be important to best fit them on its plateau. Larger enclosures cover more space, but will be more difficult to fill.

When an enclosure is built, you must drop off at least one animalor even two. These can come from another enclosure or from your homes. If you have no animals available, you will not be able to build an enclosure.

Subsequently, the enclosures will be filled, among other things, by the acquisition of new animals. You will also have to prepare your turn well since an enclosure can only accommodate one species. No question of mixing penguins and arctic wolves! If you do not have a free enclosure, or space in your homes to receive them, you will not be able to take one.

Small detail that is important, if you add an animal in an enclosure, you will be entitled, in addition, to take an animal of the same species available in one of your homes to add it to the same enclosure. During your games, you will see that this little bonus action will be really important and can make the difference.

But a zoo that works well is also a zoo where animals give birth. When the elephant moves on the track, it will be able to cross actions which will allow to have births for a given species. If you have an enclosure that contains at least one pair of this species, you can then add an animal in this enclosure (without forgetting the possibility, in this case, of adding another from your homes). We can do this up to two births on two enclosures maximum. It is up to you, therefore, to diversify your species to optimize all possible births.

Filling out an enclosure is important. Indeed, it not only gives you animals available for other enclosures, but if it is full, it will have to be emptied (with the possibility of keeping one in one of your free homes), then you can finally build an attraction for your zoo.

These will give you the opportunity to cover several boxes with great attractions, or fill small spaces that you would have left between your enclosures. The largest, in limited numbers, will of course be coveted by all players, so it will be necessary to fill an enclosure before the others to obtain them!
