The Islanders took control in the semifinals of the play-offs. New York won 2-1 at Tampa Bay in Game 1 of the series.

The man of the match was Semyon Varlamov. Author of 30 saves, the Russian goalkeeper picked up a fourth victory in a row in these play-offs. Note that the Islanders rely on two goalies in these final series with the tenure of Ilya Sorokin in five games.
