New York stocks: Dow pays record hunt with significant losses | 11/17/20

NEW YORK (awp international) – The Dow Jones Industrial paid visible tribute to its latest record hunt on Tuesday. A flood of mixed company news and disappointing retail sales also weighed on the US benchmark index, which lost 1.35 percent to 29,545.31 percent half an hour after the start of trading. On Monday it exceeded its all-week high, but failed to break the round mark of 30,000 points.

For the market-wide S&P 500 it went downhill on Tuesday by 0.98 percent to 3591.35 points. In contrast, the technology-heavy Nasdaq 100, which lagged behind the other indices the day before, held up comparatively well this time with a minus of 0.27 percent to 11,980.70 points./gl/he
