New York, national parks, route 66… The United States up and down from his sofa

Since March 11, 2020, restrictions on access to the territory have been put in place by the American authorities for travelers from France and other countries in the Schengen area. Like their Canadian neighbor, the United States is still totally closed to tourism today. However, it is difficult to escape the news in this country as the presidential elections approach, which will pit Joe Biden against Donald Trump on Tuesday.

For those who would be more interested in the country than in the escapades of the current president, Brand USA, which promotes tourism in the United States, has just put about twenty webinars (online seminars), moderated by its director William Mondello. The themes covered are as varied as the 52 states, from iconic musical routes to the little-known New England, passing through the Great Lakes region, Atlanta and the deep south or the Pacific coast.

In episode 4, we will (re) discover, for example, the city of Philadelphia, cultural capital well known for its museums (in particular the Museum of Art, the third largest in the country) and its artistic places, from a new angle: that of gastronomy. With his Reading Terminal Market, the oldest farmers’ market in the United States, with its craft breweries and creative restaurants, it will appeal to gourmet travelers. 1,700 kilometers to the southwest, episode 20 takes us to Memphis, National Museum of Civil Rights. Erected on the site of the Lorraine motel, where Martin Luther King was assassinated in 1968, it traces the long march of a people for the recognition of their rights.

More episodes are to come. We are impatiently awaiting the next one, in the national parks of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming, for a dive in the deep America, that of the cattle ranchers, the Rockies, the immense lakes and… Stations of ski!
