New York man steals two duffel bags of electronics and food from Target: NYPD – Marseille News

A thief left his mark on a Manhattan target on Sunday morning – slipping two duffel bags of items while showing security officers a cutter, cops said.

The latest example of the city’s spate of shoplifting began at 11 a.m. at Target on Second Avenue in Kips Bay.

The con artist ripped off electronics, drugstore items and food, stuffing the stolen goods into a pair of duffel bags, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

“He showed a cutter to security and then fled,” she added.

There were no immediate injuries.

Police were chasing the man, described as in his 50s.

The big box theft comes amid a wave of shoplifting across the Big Apple that has left shelves bare at stores like CVS, Walgreens and Rite-Aid.

As of September 12, the city had registered 26,385 complaints of retail theft – the highest number since 1995, The Post reported earlier this month. This is a peak of 32% compared to last year (20,024) and 38% compared to 2014 (19,166).

Mayor Eric Adams said Thursday that if elected, he would let cops know on the first day that his administration “will not stand idly by” in the midst of the wave of flights.

“And I’m going to let them know that we don’t just sit and watch people walk into Duane Reades and other stores and grab garbage bags full of supplies,” he said. “And the mountain bikes that roll on our roads. “
