New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson to miss 2-4 weeks – AP

NEW YORKNew York Jets starting quarterback Zach Wilson is expected to miss two to four weeks with a bruised right knee and torn meniscus in the same area, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The person confided in AP anonymously, as the team did not make a public announcement.

Tests performed after Friday’s game against the Eagles showed no torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The nature of the injury was determined by a magnetic resonance imaging test Saturday morning.

The New York Post first reported that Wilson suffered a bruised and torn meniscus.

The 23-year-old quarterback was injured early in Friday’s preseason game at Philadelphia, where the Jets won 24-21.

Wilson could be restored in time for the Jets’ regular season opener on Sept. 13, against Baltimore. Otherwise, the start would probably go to Joe Flacco, who has long shone with the Ravens.

Above all, the Jets want to see Wilson progress as a quarterback in 2022, in his second season in the NFL.

New York drafted him second overall last year after he distinguished himself with BYU.

In his first season in the NFL, Wilson had nine touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. He has not been intercepted in his last five meetings.
