New York Fashion Week has started. Most of the new designer collections are presented on Internet. Some fashion designers have canceled.
Fashion Week began in New York with a drastically small and in most cases digital-only audience. According to CNN, only 30 visitors were allowed to participate in designer Jason Wu’s opening presentation on a Manhattan rooftop terrace on Sunday.
“Harlem’s Fasion Row,” an initiative for more black designers in the fashion industry, showed the designs on Sunday exclusively online. Steven Kolb, president of the Councils for Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), said the network format would allow more aspiring fashion designers to have space.
Anna Sui, Carolina Herrera and Marchesa wish to present their new creations in New York. Star designer Christian Siriano concludes Thursday. A new documentary on creator Pierre Cardin was also scheduled to air Monday evening.

Renowned designers have canceled
In May, the CFDA announced it would cancel Fashion Week in its original format. Instead, the shows are now featured on the Runway360 online platform. Not all the designers usually represented are at New York this year. Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren, among others, have canceled their participation.
Thanks to Corona, London Fashion Week on September 17, as well as the shows in Milan and Paris at the end of the month will also be widely presented online.
