New York could be sweltering hot as early as Tuesday – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — After a cooler, grayer start to the week, the possibility of sweltering, humid heat similar to what was experienced a week ago during a multi-day heat wave could return to our area.

Tuesday is expected to start with a sunny day with highs possibly reaching 90 degrees in some regions, an excellent day to visit the coastal area, according to the Time Authority.

This is how it will continue on Wednesday, with the humidity maybe lower, but still with temperatures in the 90s.

However, the strongest heat index would be felt by Thursday in some areas such as central and southwestern New Jersey with temperatures between 94 and three digits (100).

Friday would see highs in the 91s, adding up to four possible days in the 90s or higher in a row and a chance of a second heat wave. This day a cold front is expected that would cause some rain and thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday. The front will not clear the area, so high humidity will persist through the weekend. That embarrassment will continue until next week.

Due to the possible arrival of this extreme weather, the Governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, announced that starting Tuesday at 8:00 am it will activate the extreme weather protocol in preparation for the heat that is expected during the next few days.

The New York City medical examiner’s office confirmed over the weekend that there had been a fourth death related to the heat that hit the region a few days ago. No details about the victim were released. The first heat-related death was reported on July 24.
