In New York, an Italian Columbia University student was stabbed to death and another was wounded with a knife. The police announced on Friday that the 30-year-old had died of serious injuries in the abdominal area.
A 27-year-old Italian was rushed to hospital with upper body injuries, but his condition was stable. The Italian Foreign Ministry confirmed both cases.
The incidents reportedly took place in the Harlem district in northwest Manhattan, near the university campus. The alleged attacker, who is 25 years old according to police, was arrested shortly after the second attack in the northern part of Central Park when he was threatening a third man with a knife.
