In New York, a 49-year-old is said to have lit a 15-meter Christmas tree in front of the headquarters of the TV station Fox News. The fire was quickly brought under control. The conservative broadcaster now wants to set up a new tree.

Dhe New York police arrested a man on suspicion of setting fire to a giant Christmas tree in front of the Fox News headquarters. As the police announced on Wednesday, the 49-year-old was caught climbing the support structure of the 15-meter-high tree at night. Shortly afterwards the richly decorated tree went up in flames.
According to authorities, the suspect had a lighter with him. Experts from the fire brigade should now determine whether he also used fire accelerators. The fire was quickly brought under control and no one was injured. Police had not yet given a motive for the incident, but Fox News Media chief executive Suzanne Scott described it as a “malicious arson attack.”
