New-York: Cellou Dalein’s new revelation on the 2010 Presidential… | Africa Guinea

NEW-YORK-Currently staying in New-York where he took part on Saturday, November 27, at the 4th edition of the award ceremony of the “African Lsadership Awards”, organized by the Mouvement des Entreprises du Sénégal – MEDS, Cellou Dalein Diallo, lifted a corner of the veil on the presidential election of 2010. An election organized in a context of strong tensions and that it had led to the victory – on the edge of the razor – of Alpha Condé, donated on September 05 by a blow State headed by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya.

“In 2011, my friend Malick Diop did me the honor of distinguishing myself by a cauris d’or, that of peace. I had the honor of receiving this award from Ms. Wade. In 2010, a year before (this award) there were elections in Guinea. At 1is In turn, I ended up with 44% of the valid votes cast against 18% for Mr. Alpha Condé, and 14% for Mr. Sidya Touré. These are the official results ”, recalled the former Prime Minister.

Contrary to the provisions of the Constitution which stipulated that only two weeks should separate the proclamation of the results of the 1is round in the second round, the organization of the second round on the scheduled date was not obtained, he observes.

“We had to wait and fight for four months to get the second round. At the end of this second round, Mr. Alpha Condé who had only had 18% in the 1is round, was proclaimed winner when I had benefited from the support of the kingmaker in this case Mr. Sidya Touré ”, explains the leader of the UFDG.

The eyes of the international community were on Guinea, insists Mr. Diallo, specifying that the mobilization capacity of his party (UFDG) in Conakry was known. He reveals the box in which the evidence of his victory was located had not even been opened.

“The decision was difficult to make, I must admit. Especially since I had all the proof that I did not lose the elections. What should I do? I prepared appeals, I gathered all the irrefutable evidence of my victory in the second round. We sent to the Supreme Court. She did not even open the boxes. Because the soldiers had said that it was necessary to proclaim the provisional results (of the second round) as she received them, ”reveals Cellou Dalein Diallo.

There was so much ethnic tension that any protest could have led the country into violence that could have resulted in civil war, he said.

“The second round campaign was waged on a strictly ethnic basis. Finally, I favored peace since the Supreme Court, which was the last resort, recognized the victory of Mr. Alpha Condé. We wanted to prevent Guinea from this violence which could inevitably have led to civil war. Many of my friends weren’t happy with this attitude. So Mr. Malick Diop, who considers these acts responsible and preserving peace, decided to award me the golden cowrie for peace. I want to thank her for that, ”recalled the former Guinean prime minister.
